Nomenclatural History
The species Mycobacterium caprae was originally described and validly published by Aranaz et al. 2003. Aranaz et al. elevated the subspecies (Aranaz et al. 1999) Niemann et al. 2002 to the rank of species to form this name in 2003. Riojas et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (Zopf 1883) Lehmann and Neumann 1896 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Riojas et al. 2018 in 2018.
