Nomenclatural History

The species Nocardia calcarea was originally described by Metcalf and Brown 1957. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Rainey et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Rhodococcus erythropolis (Gray and Thornton 1928) Goodfellow and Alderson 1979 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Nouioui et al. 2018
in 1995.
