Nomenclatural History
The species Rhodococcus erythropolis was originally described by Goodfellow and Alderson 1977. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Rainey et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Metcalf and Brown 1957 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1995. Koch et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Tate and Ensign 1974 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1995. Lee and Kim established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Xu et al. 2007 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018 in 2021. Lee and Kim established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Li et al. 2004 in 2021.
