The species Rhodococcus qingshengii was originally described and validly published by Xu et al. 2007. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Táncsics et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Wang et al. 2010 in 2014. Nouioui et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Dastager et al. 2014 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018 in 2018. Lee et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Švec et al. 2015 in 2020. Lee and Kim established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (Gray and Thornton 1928) Goodfellow and Alderson 1979 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Nouioui et al. 2018 in 2021.
