Nomenclatural History
The genus Actinoplanes was originally proposed by Couch 1950. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Couch and Bland published an emended description of this genus in 1974. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Stackebrandt and Kroppenstedt in 1987 and Nouioui et al. in 2018. Stackebrandt and Kroppenstedt transferred the members of Couch 1964 emend. Couch and Bland 1974 (Approved Lists 1980) into this genus in 1987. Stackebrandt and Kroppenstedt transferred the members of Couch 1963 emend. Couch and Bland 1974 (Approved Lists 1980) into this genus in 1987.
