Nomenclatural History
The genus Propionibacterium was originally proposed by Orla-Jensen 1909. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Moore and Holdeman published an emended description of this genus in 1974. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Charfreitag et al. in 1988 and Scholz and Kilian in 2016.
