The species Saccharothrix tangerinus was originally described by Kinoshita et al. 1999. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 74 in 2000. In 2007, Labeda and Kroppenstedt established Saccharothrix tangerinus as the basonym of
Umezawaea tangerina (Kinoshita et al. 2000) Labeda and Kroppenstedt 2007 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018
