The species Streptomyces anthocyanicus was originally described by Pridham 1970. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Komaki published an emended description of this species in 2021. Komaki established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (Krasil'nikov et al. 1965) Pridham 1970 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2021. Komaki established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Goodfellow et al. 1986 pro synon. Actinopycnidium caeruleum Krasil'nikov 1962 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2021.
