The species Streptomyces cinnamonensis was originally described by Okami 1952. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Komaki and Tamura established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces virginiae Grundy et al. 1952 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Nouioui et al. 2018
in 2021.
