The species Streptomyces flocculus was originally described by Waksman and Henrici 1948. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Labeda et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces albus (Rossi Doria 1891) Waksman and Henrici 1943 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Nouioui et al. 2018
in 2014.
