The species Streptomyces glaucescens was originally described by Pridham et al. 1958. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Madhaiyan et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Madhaiyan et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces pharetrae Le Roes and Meyers 2005
in 2020.
