The species Streptomyces laceyi was originally described by Manfio et al. 2003. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 93 in 2003. Tamura et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Smith et al. 1956 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2008.
