Nomenclatural History
The species Rickettsia conorii was originally described by Brumpt 1932. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Zhu et al. published an emended description of this species in 2005. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Hördt et al. in 2020. In 2005, Zhu et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Brumpt 1932) Zhu et al. 2020 .
