Davis et al. 1969 notes that ATCC 17741 was received from C.B. van Niel as the type strain of "Micrococcus denitrificans" Beijerinck and Minkman 1910. This may represent the same original isolate as ATCC 19367 and ATCC 13543 from the Delft collection.
