Isolated from Lysopersicon esculentum in Yugoslavia. The pathovar description is the same as the description of X. gardneri by Jones et al. [8]. Host specificity on tomato can distinguish X. cynarae pv. gardneri from other pathovars. X. cynarae pv. gardneri strains are insensitive to tetrazolium violet. The pathotype strain is ATCC 19865 (PT).
