Nomenclatural History
The species Erwinia carotovora was originally described by Bergey et al. 1923. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1923, Bergey et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Jones 1901) Bergey et al. 1923 (Approved Lists 1980) . Skerman et al. established as an earlier homotypic synonym of (Jones 1901) Waldee 1945 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Portier et al. 2019 pro synon. Erwinia carotovora (Jones 1901) Bergey et al. 1923 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1980.
