Nomenclatural History
|
The species Gluconobacter oxydans was originally described by De Ley 1961. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Mason and Claus published an emended description of this species in 1989. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Hördt et al. in 2020. In 1974, De Ley and Frateur reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form
Gluconobacter oxydans oxydans (Henneberg 1897) De Ley 1961 (Approved Lists 1980)
. Li et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Gluconobacter uchimurae Tanasupawat et al. 2012
in 2017.
