Nomenclatural History
The species Staphylococcus carnosus was originally described and validly published by Schleifer and Fischer 1982. Madhaiyan et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. In 1998, Probst et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form Schleifer and Fischer 1982 .
