Nomenclatural History
The species Veillonella parvula was originally described by Prévot 1933. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Mays et al. published an emended description of this species in 1982. Mays et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Prévot 1933 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1982. In 1982, Mays et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Veillon and Zuber 1898) Prévot 1933 (Approved Lists 1980) .
