The species Streptomyces phaeogriseichromatogenes was originally described by Goodfellow et al. 2007. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 119 in 2008. Komaki established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces murinus Frommer 1959 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Komaki 2021
in 2021.
