This species name was created by the Diversa Corporation (merged with Celunol to become Verenium Corporation in February 2007, now part of BASF). The name is illegitimate because it is based on a proprietary type strain that was not accessioned in public collections. "Streptomyces diversa" is a U.S. trademark registered by the Diversa Corporation.
