Nomenclatural History
The order Mycobacteriales was originally proposed by Janke 1924. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Gupta published an emended description of this order in 2019. Stackebrandt et al. transferred the members of this order into Buchanan 1917 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Salam et al. 2020 in 1997.

According to Bergey's 7, Mycobacteriales was already unified into Actinomycetales by 1957. Janke published several variations of his taxonomy from 1924 to 1930, the later of which did not refer to this taxon.
