The species Rhizobium flavum was originally described and validly published by Gu et al. 2014. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. In 2021, Lassalle et al. established Rhizobium flavum as the basonym of
Pseudorhizobium flavum (Gu et al. 2014) Lassalle et al. 2021
