The species Pseudorhizobium flavum was originally described by Lassalle et al. 2021. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 199 in 2021. Lassalle et al. formed this name in 2021 by placing the species Gu et al. 2014 emend. Hördt et al. 2020 into the genus Kimes et al. 2017 emend. Lassalle et al. 2021.
