Nomenclatural History
The species Pseudooceanicola flagellatus was originally described and validly published by Huang et al. 2018. Huang et al. formed this name in 2018 by placing the species Huo et al. 2014 into the genus Lai et al. 2015 emend. Liang et al. 2021.

Lai et al. proposed this name in 2015, but there were two errors in the protologue, resulting in the name not being effectively published. In 2018, Huang et al. re-proposed this name using a correct protologue.
