Nomenclatural History	The subspecies Propionibacterium acnes acnes was originally described and validly published by Dekio et al. 2015. Scholz and Kilian elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name Propionibacterium acnes (Gilchrist 1900) Douglas and Gunter 1946 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2016.
