Nomenclatural History	The species Cutibacterium acnes was originally described and validly published by Scholz and Kilian 2016. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Scholz and Kilian formed this name in 2016 by placing the species Propionibacterium acnes (Gilchrist 1900) Douglas and Gunter 1946 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Cutibacterium Scholz and Kilian 2016 emend. Dekio et al. 2019. In 2018, Nouioui et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form Cutibacterium acnes acnes (Dekio et al. 2015) Nouioui et al. 2018 emend. Dekio et al. 2019 .
