The species Sediminispirochaeta smaragdinae was originally described and validly published by Shivani et al. 2016. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Shivani et al. formed this name in 2016 by placing the species Magot et al. 1998 into the genus Shivani et al. 2016.
