The species Salipiger profundus was originally described and validly published by Wirth and Whitman 2018. Wirth and Whitman formed this name in 2018 by placing the species Li et al. 2015 emend. Huang et al. 2017 into the genus Martínez-Cánovas et al. 2004 emend. Liang et al. 2021.
