Nomenclatural History

The species Thiobacimonas profunda was originally described and validly published by Li et al. 2015. Huang et al. published an emended description of this species in 2017. Huang et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Salipiger nanhaiensis Dai et al. 2015 emend. Hördt et al. 2020
in 2017. In 2018, Wirth and Whitman established Thiobacimonas profunda as the basonym of
Salipiger profundus (Li et al. 2015) Wirth and Whitman 2018
