The species Demequina gelatinilytica was originally described by Nouioui et al. 2018. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 184 in 2018. Nouioui et al. formed this name in 2018 by placing the species Hamada et al. 2015 into the genus Yi et al. 2007 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018.
