Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Enterobacter hormaechei xiangfangensis was originally described by Sutton et al. 2018. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 184 in 2018. In 2018, Sutton et al. reduced Gu et al. 2014 to the rank of subspecies.

Wu et al. 2020 maintains that Enterobacter hormaechei subsp. xiangfangensis is not a subspecies of Enterobacter hormaechei, and should be considered a species.
