Nomenclatural History

The species Enterobacter xiangfangensis was originally described and validly published by Gu et al. 2014. In 2018, Sutton et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form
Enterobacter hormaechei xiangfangensis (Gu et al. 2014) Sutton et al. 2018
. Wu et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Enterobacter hormaechei oharae Hoffmann et al. 2016
in 2020. Wu et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Enterobacter hormaechei steigerwaltii Hoffmann et al. 2016
in 2020.
Wu et al. 2020 assert Enterobacter dissolvens should not be considered a subspecies of Enterobacter hormaechei.
