Nomenclatural History
The species Entomoplasma lactucae was originally described and validly published by Gasparich and Kuo 2019. established as an earlier homotypic synonym of (Rose et al. 1990) Gupta et al. 2019 in 2015. Gasparich and Kuo formed this name in 2019 by placing the species (Rose et al. 1990) Tully et al. 1993 into the genus Tully et al. 1993 emend. Gupta et al. 2019.

This taxonomic opinion conflicts with that of Edwardiiplasma lactucae (Rose et al. 1990) Gupta et al. 2019.
