The species Companilactobacillus salsicarnum was originally described and validly published by Zheng et al. 2020. Zheng et al. established as a later homotypic synonym of Schuster et al. 2020 in 2020. Jiang and Gu established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (Wei and Gu 2019) Zheng et al. 2020 emend. Jiang and Gu 2022 in 2022.
