The species Evansella clarkii was originally described and validly published by Gupta et al. 2020. Gupta et al. formed this name in 2020 by placing the species Nielsen et al. 1995 into the genus Gupta et al. 2020. Narsing Rao et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (Aino et al. 2008) Gupta et al. 2020 in 2021.
