The species Evansella polygoni was originally described and validly published by Gupta et al. 2020. Gupta et al. formed this name in 2020 by placing the species
Bacillus polygoni Aino et al. 2008
into the genus Evansella Gupta et al. 2020. Narsing Rao et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Evansella clarkii (Nielsen et al. 1995) Gupta et al. 2020
in 2021.
