The species Schinkia azotoformans was originally described and validly published by Gupta et al. 2020. Gupta et al. formed this name in 2020 by placing the species
Bacillus azotoformans (ex Pichinoty et al. 1976) Pichinoty et al. 1983
into the genus Schinkia Gupta et al. 2020. Oren and Garrity established Schinkia azotoformans as an earlier homotypic synonym of
Calidifontibacillus azotoformans (Pichinoty et al. 1983) Adiguzel et al. 2020 pro synon. Schinkia azotoformans (Pichinoty et al. 1983) Gupta et al. 2020
in 2021.
