Gupta et al. formed this name in 2020 by placing the species Bao et al. 2017 into the genus Gupta et al. 2020. Oren and Garrity established as an earlier homotypic synonym of (Bao et al. 2017) Adiguzel et al. 2020 pro synon. Schinkia oryziterrae (Bao et al. 2017) Gupta et al. 2020 in 2021.
