The species Tropicimonas marinistellae was originally described by Liang et al. 2021. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 203 in 2022. Liang et al. formed this name in 2021 by placing the species Zhang et al. 2017 into the genus Harwati et al. 2009 emend. Liang et al. 2021.
