The species Brachybacterium halotolerans was originally described by Chen et al. 2021. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 202 in 2021. In 2022, Kim et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Chen et al. 2021) Kim et al. 2022 .
