The species Fusobacterium polymorphum was originally described by Kook et al. 2022. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 204 in 2022. Kook et al. elevated the subspecies (ex Knorr 1922) Dzink et al. 1990 to the rank of species to form this name in 2022.
