Nomenclatural History
The species Streptomyces phaeopurpureus was originally described by Shinobu 1957. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Lanoot et al. published an emended description of this species in 2004. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Nouioui et al. in 2018. Lanoot et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Shinobu 1957 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2004. Kämpfer et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (Ryabova and Preobrazhenskaya 1957) Pridham et al. 1958 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Nouioui et al. 2018 in 2017.
