Nomenclatural History

The species Streptomyces spheroides was originally described by Wallick et al. 1956. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Lanoot et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces caeruleus (Baldacci 1944) Pridham et al. 1958 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Nouioui et al. 2018
in 2002. Tamura et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Streptomyces niveus Smith et al. 1956 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 2008.
