Nomenclatural History
The species Streptomyces sporocinereus was originally described by Gause et al. 1983. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 22 in 1986. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Komaki et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (Jensen 1931) Waksman and Henrici 1948 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Komaki et al. 2022 in 2017. In 2022, Komaki et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Gause et al. 1986) Komaki et al. 2022 .
