Nomenclatural History
The genus Kitasatospora was originally proposed by Ōmura et al. 1982. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 11 in 1983. Zhang et al. corrected this name from (sic) to . Zhang et al. published an emended description of this genus in 1997. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Nouioui et al. in 2018. Wellington et al. transferred the members of this genus into Waksman and Henrici 1943 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Idris et al. 2017 in 1992.
