Nomenclatural History
The species Microtetraspora viridis was originally described by Nonomura and Ohara 1971. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1989, Miyadoh et al. established as the basonym of (Nonomura and Ohara 1971) Miyadoh et al. 1989 . Miyadoh et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Lavrova et al. 1972 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1989.

The Approved List erroneously cites Nonomura and Ohara (1971) Distribution of Actinomycetes in Soil (VIII) Green-spore Group of Microtetraspora, Its Preferential Isolation and Taxonomic Characteristics as the effective reference for Microtetraspora viridis.
