Nomenclatural History
The genus Blastococcus was originally proposed by Ahrens and Moll 1970. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Urzì et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2004. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Lee in 2006 and Hezbri et al. in 2016.
