The class Spirochaetes was originally proposed by Cavalier-Smith 2002. This name was placed onto the nomina taxorum rejicienda by Judicial Opinion 79 in 2005. Paster replaced this illegitimate name with (Cavalier-Smith 2002) Paster 2020 in 2010.
