Nomenclatural History
The order Bacteroidales was originally proposed by Krieg 2010. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 143 in 2012. Pikuta et al. published an emended description of this order in 2017. A subsequent emendation was proposed by García-López et al. in 2019. García-López et al. transferred the members of Wu et al. 2016 into this order in 2019.
